About
Warrington Amateur Radio Club
The Club was formed in 1947 and meets on Tuesdays at 8.00 PM Local
Time. It offers technical talks and demonstrations about radio. The
group also operates its own station and throughout the year members
compete in amateur radio contests.
The club also establishes temporary radio stations at local events
such as scout jamborees and local fetes. There are also many social
events for members and friends.
The Club has over 50 participants and is affiliated to the Radio
Society of Great Britain (RSGB). Several members are involved in
training courses for people wanting to take up the hobby and obtain
a radio amateurs licence.
There is a broad technical knowledgebase within the membership and
assistance and advice for newcomers is readily offered. Facilities
available include an amateur radio station, test equipment and an
extensive technical library.
The club room was relocated on the ground floor level in January 2007
and work is ongoing to make it completely accesible to whelchair users
and others with disabilities.
